THE RECORDING PROCESS

PHASE 1 - PRE-PRODUCTION
Rehearse
Listen to their rehearsal
Make suggestions on arrangements
Make technical & audio suggestions

PHASE 2 - RECORDING
INITIAL TRACKING SESSION
Lay down foundational tracks - drums, bass (optional: keys, guitar, scratch vocals for time keeping), recorded to click track

INITIAL EDITING
this is a process to tighten up initial tracks when needed to allow the rest of the instruments/musicians to record their final passes

OVER-DUBBING
Recording guitars, keys, other instruments (i.e. horns)

ADDITIONAL EDITING
to continue to tighten up the over-dubbed tracks
(this step can be avoided if you don't suck at first)
The more time you spend in pre-pro or rehearsing will maximize efficiency when in the actual studio recording session

VOCAL OVERDUB SESSION
Lead vocals
Backing vocals can be done here too

VOCAL EDITING
can be done mid-session with client present or scheduled for separate session

PHASE 3 - MIXING
